Homeschool Student Excels in Science Competition

Chandler Joy, a 12-year-old 7th grade Homeschool student who lives in Murrieta, won 1st place in the River Springs Charter School (RSCS) 6-8th grade Homeschool Science Fair 2014, 1st place for the RSCS 6-8th grade District Science Fair 2014 and 2nd in the 6-8th grade RIMS Regional Science Fair 2014.  Her topic: The Effect of Vitamin-C on Bacteria.

She was also a Science Fair presenter for the River Springs Homeschool event in October, making a PowerPoint presentation and doing hands-on demonstrations for students and parents.  She hopes one day to be a doctor.

Chandler has been in Springs Homeschool since 4th grade.  Her education specialist observed, “Chandler has been flourishing at Springs Charter School and it is the perfect fit for her learning style.”

Chandler’s interest in science and the medical field began at age 8, when she drew the complete digestive system.  She excels in science, and has been given permission to attend the Springs High School Medical Terminology Class and Springs High School biology and chemistry labs.  She has also written ABC Children’s Anatomy, a medical book for kids.
