Springs Homeschool students gathered at the Temecula Event Center for a Reading Extravaganza, reported Nikki McAdoo, events and community engagement coordinator. Students were invited to dress up as their favorite storybook character. Younger students created Rainbow Fish Playdough and went deep sea “site word fishing,” while older students played Parts of Speech Jenga and participated in a life-sized vocabulary board game. All students shared their cereal box book reports and participated in a Reader’s Theater rotation. At the end of the day, students held a storybook parade.
Homeschool students also participated in a Young Author’s Writing Competition. More than 50 students submitted stories and eight were selected by the Imagination Machine troupe to be acted out at an assembly. Nikki remarked, “It was magical to watch as the actors brought the stories written by our students to life.”
