Homeschool Junior Competes in International Ballet Competition

Springs Homeschool junior Ivy Lanhardt of Corona, who dances with the Academy of Ballet Arts in Murrieta, was one of 12 Americans who were accepted to compete in the 50th-anniversary edition of the Prix de Lausanne, held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The competition is for dancers ages 15 to 18. This year, 429 applicants from 39 countries sent videos applying to the Prix de Lausanne, of which 87 dancers from 18 countries were accepted.  Directors from top ballet schools and companies evaluate the dancers during the competitions, with some being offered scholarships or contracts at the end of the competition. Ivy received offers from four schools, including the San Francisco Ballet School and the Royal Swedish Ballet School.
