Educational publisher Academic Innovations (AI) has awarded a gold medal to Springs for Get Focused, its career education program for 9th-grade students.
According to AI Vice President Tanja Easson, “earning this distinction speaks to the effort, dedication, and teamwork behind the implementation of your Career Choices series program.”
Virtual English teacher Matthew Ramey explained the course: “Get Focused is an academic program that challenges students to think critically about their life path through a ten-year lens. Students create a plan called, ‘My 10-Year Plan.’ This plan is a working document with ‘Who Am I,’ ‘What Do I Want,’ and ‘How Do I Get It’ being the main component titles.
The plan focuses thought on strengths, desired lifestyle, goals, and pathways. As students take the course they are discovering their future and think about what comes next after high school. The plan is a living document and students have access and the ability to amend their plan as circumstances and preferences change. Get Focused is an amazing class and an educational tool that helps students to see the world beyond the classroom.”
