Springs’ Venture Online families held a Mid-Year Event at the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park, the first in-person event held since 2019. More than 350 students and parents participated.
One of the main goals, reported Principal Jackie Dee, was “to build connection and an engaging classroom environment in our virtual setting, and hosting our Mid-Year Event was the perfect opportunity to do so. Students were able to interact with their classmates, teachers and instructional aides.”
The staff also held two days of professional development allowing out-of-state teachers the opportunity to meet with local staff and collaborate with one another. Additionally, they received professional development and mentor time with peers. The event allowed team-building, retention strategy and program development.
