Valeria Duarte, 13, an 8th-grade student at Springs’ Magnolia Academy, is on a waitlist for the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles summer program, the YOLA National Festival. The festival is a two-week summer program for young musicians, offering them an opportunity to learn and perform with world-renowned conductors. Hundreds of young musicians nationwide submit auditions for the festival.
Valeria attends the Riverside Arts Academy, plays the cello and is one of seven academy students who auditioned for the program.
The Duarte family chose Springs because they believed in its philosophy of education, and liked its small school environment. Being part of the program allows her to practice cello two hours daily and be part of the Riverside Youth Orchestra.
