IT/Facilities Goes “Over the Top” with Earthquake Drill

Springs participated in the Great ShakeOut earthquake preparedness drill in October, first at the administrative offices and then at the school sites, to prepare staff and students for the possibility of an earthquake.  Participants learned how to assist others who may be injured, what supplies they should have on hand in case of an emergency, how furniture may be better secured to reduce risk of injury and more.

As always, the IT/Facilities Department went “over the top” in their participation in the drill, reported Jeanne Schaffner, Springs’ Safety & Risk Manager. Afton MacDonald, Department Coordinator of IT/Facilities, shared with staff the following humorous photos and narrative:

Drea tried to cling to Darth Vader but was tragically separated during the ensuing chaos…

Abandoning Darth Vador to his fate, Drea then valiantly rescues her sister (who does not look well). TJ and Michael close behind, not helping at all …

Aria, ever conscious of the school’s budget, sacrificed herself to save the $40,000 copier …

Afton and a miraculously recovered Cassandra did their best to treat Deborah’s wounds to her head and … hair?

Leilani fled the scene, rescuing the safety-conscious llamas on her way …

Working in the death trap that is his office, it is no surprise that Dammon was taken out by boxes …

Devon is distraught …

Not to be deterred by the dangers around them, Dammon’s loyal team pulls him to safety …

Happy ShakeOut!  Here’s a picture of some of us, mostly looking in the wrong direction.
