Mammoth, camels, and of course…sloths!
Spend this Homeschool Day at the La Brea Tar Pits with the biggest mammals of the Ice Age. We´ll explore what life was like for these amazing herbivores in Pleistocene Los Angeles, and how their fossils give us clues about survival and extinction. Museum admission included!
They may offer special experiences and programs in the mornings on Homeschool Days.
To pick up tickets for these special program experiences, check in with a La Brea Tar Pits School Programs representative at the Welcome Table when you arrive. Tickets will be free and distributed on a first-come, first served basis.
Lunch & Snack: You may bring a lunch safely secured in a backpack; however, they ask that all food (except water and baby formulas) be consumed outside the facility. You are invited to picnic in the Hancock Park, or on the picnic benches in front of the museum. You will also notice lots of restaurants right nearby on Wilshire Boulevard.
Important Information:
- No late registrations or refunds will be processed after the closing date. No Exceptions
- No use of membership passes.
- Recommended for grades TK-5th, however open to all ages.
- Program ends at 12:00 p.m. However, you can stay the day.
- All Students must be accompanied by a registered adult.
- Note: If you have multiple Homeschool students, each Homeschool student must be registered for all Field Trips using their own designated flex fund account. Any duplicate orders for the same field trip on one student’s account will not be allowed.
- Field Trip Photography Disclaimer: “Please be advised that photographs will be taken at this event for possible use on the SCS website, marketing materials, and/or all other SCS publications. If you do not want you or your child to be photographed please advise the Field Trip Coordinator.
- How to Cancel: Forward your registration confirmation email receipt to field.trips@springscs.org with a detailed notation to cancel by the deadline date indicated on each field trip.
