What is NHS and NJHS?
Membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is one of the highest honors awarded to middle and high school students. Springs Charter Schools is proud to sponsor multiple chapters that recognize student achievements and foster active leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence.
The Four Pillars of NHS
Our chapters strive to give practical meaning to the four core standards of the National Honor Society:
- Scholarship: Demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
- Leadership: Taking initiative, inspiring peers, and leading by positive example.
- Service: Actively participating in school activities and volunteer projects to serve others.
- Character: Upholding high standards of honesty, integrity, and responsibility.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for induction, candidates must meet criteria in scholarship, service, leadership, and character:
- High School (NHS): Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA (or equivalent).
- Middle School (NJHS): Minimum cumulative B+ average (or equivalent).
- Participation: Commit to monthly virtual meetings, a chapter service project, and an individual service project.
How to Apply
Please complete all application steps before the September 18, 2026 deadline. Late submissions cannot be accepted.
- Complete the Application Form
- Submit a Recommendation Letter: Request a letter of recommendation from a non-family community member or school staff person and have them email it to Madeline.Holkeboer@springscs.org
- Faculty Council Review: The Faculty Council will review all submissions, verify eligibility, and notify selected candidates by late September before the fall induction ceremony.
