I have experience working within the community to cover stories daily as a journalist for television news, owning and operating a video production company that produced television shows and segments for colleges and universities for eight years, and teaching a Media Studies class to middle school students.
Why I teach CTE:
At Springs Charter Schools, we have many talented students that are gaining knowledge and skills by doing meaningful, hands-on work as interns within organizations throughout the community. For seniors, Internship means mastering skills to start a career after high school or learning more about a career before pursuing a specific pathway in college. For most juniors, Internship means landing their first entry-level unpaid position. For me, it was especially rewarding to watch my interns learn and grow in different career pathways, and to see one of my interns get hired into a paid position.
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Go Huskers!

As an Internship Coordinator, I am excited to use my business / journalism skills to develop business contacts and internship sites in the area, promote the program, and serve as a liaison between Springs Charter Schools, internship business partners, and students.
Working for Springs Charter Schools appeals to me for many reasons, but first and foremost is because it is like one big family of staff, parents, and students working together with the community to achieve one goal… educating students.
I enjoy traveling to new places and spending time with my family.
The most memorable books to me personally are the ones that I have read to and with my daughter. Right now, we are reading A Wrinkle in Time together.
I enjoyed most subjects when I was a student in school.
My favorite place to go with my husband and daughter is Disneyland. We love all things Disney!
