Education

I am a graduate of University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of English with CLAD emphasis and Single Subject teaching credential in English. I earned my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading and an Administrative Credential from Grand Canyon University. I am currently working on my Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in K-12 education from Grand Canyon University.
I began my first steps in teaching as an English Language teacher of summer exchange students from Tahiti. After an enriching first experience, I continued with my passions and began teaching high school English, reading intervention, AVID, and Freshman Seminar at a local school district. Over the years, I began stepping in various leadership roles and took the position of Dean of Students. Springs Charter is my home since 2010, as Director of the Hemet Student Centers, each day I get paid for doing those things about which I am most passionate!

Favorite Hobbies

I enjoy reading, going to the beach, dirt bike riding, and spending time with family. I adore watching my granddaughter play and learn.

Favorite Books

My favorite book is Charlotte Temple: A Tale of Truth by Susanna Rowson. This book is no longer in publication and I came across it in an Early American Literature class in college. I love how it shared the difficulties and challenges of growing up while teaching a lesson to young girls.
My favorite children’s book is Bread and Jam for Francis by Russell Hoban. Frances was the middle child, although I was the baby of the family, I enjoyed reading about her many pranks to get attention.
My favorite series to read in middle elementary grades was Sydney Taylor’s All of Kind Family. The stories about the family and all the many facets of their life in New York City fascinated me.

Favorite Subject

English was always my most favorite class. I love learning about language, how different people use it, and how we can communicate using so many different methods. Whether it be reading a story, jotting down a note, or hearing a message, language is an exciting and complex way to learn about people.

Fun Facts

I love being outside to play hard and come back in to sparkle.
