Area of Expertise
As an English teacher, AVID teacher, department co-chair, parent of two boys, wife, and member of Springs Board, Jamie fulfills her roles as an effective communicator, who is logical, timely, and considerate. Organization and research play an important part in her decision making, and she is accustomed to being flexible and working under pressure. As an educator and a parent, Jamie feels she recognizes the needs and abilities of both parties involved in pursuing the success of children.
Jamie earned her BA in Literature & Writing Studies from CSU San Marcos in 2001, and immediately pursued her career as an educator by starting as an intern teacher and completing an English Single Subject Teaching Credential in 2003. Within two years of teaching, Jamie was selected to join the site AVID team and became AVID Elective Teacher Certified. Jamie returned to school and earned her MS in Administrative Services from National University in 2007. Jamie was selected to serve on the Springs Board in 2019.
Volunteering as a class parent has served as a rewarding opportunity that allows Jamie to give back to her own profession. Jamie has also volunteered since 2015 in the roles of assistant coach and team parent for TVSA.
Jamie grew up in Southern California amongst educators. Her own mom and both grandmothers represented only a few of the teachers in the family. Her childhood created a passion for learning at an early age and remains a passion that Jamie desires to cultivate for her two sons and her students. Jamie’s value of learning as academic, social-emotional, and progressive is what led her family to enroll their boys in Springs Charter Schools. Outside of school, Jamie enjoys attending her boys’ extracurriculars, camping with family, reading, and attending concerts with her husband.
