Heather Ferenc

Senior Director of Education

Education

I began my teaching career right out of college and I still keep in touch with some of my very first students. I have also enjoyed teaching adult education classes at night time as well as directing a public charter school for the past 7 years.

Favorite Hobbies

I love traveling as much as I can. I have met the most interesting people in my journeys around the world from Cuba, Mexico, Spain, all over Europe, Canada and of course the United States! Experiencing new cultures fuels my tank.

Favorite Books

Last Child in the Woods had a tremendous impact on my personal and professional life in working with children. The importance of kids being out in nature and “unplugged” has became a foundational belief.

Favorite Subject

My favorite subject is Spanish! My high school Spanish teacher was an incredible mentor and inspired me to study abroad in Spain during college and pursue a Minor in Spanish. She gave me her favorite soup recipe and I still think of her when I make it!

Fun Facts

I was kicked out of my preschool when I was 4 years old for being “too bossy” and trying to be the teacher of the class. Coming from a family of educators, I knew from then on I was meant to pursue teaching. I used to set up my stuffed animals and pretend to teach my class. Of course now, I believe that my own two children have been my greatest teachers in life and I believe wholeheartedly that the best teachers are life long learners themselves.
