Education

I have been a member of the Coachella Valley / Indio California area for eight years now. I attended San Diego State University where I completed a Degree in Social Science with a Minor in African-American Studies. After my Undergraduate Degree I continued my education completing San Diego State’s Teacher Credential Multiple-Subject Internship Program.

After graduating from SDSU, I began my journey into the field of education in 1993 while working as a Gang Prevention Counselor of elementary school age children, with the San Diego County Office of Education.

I would leave the SD County Office of Education in 1996 to join San Diego Unified Schools’ “Pupil Advocacy for African-American Students Program.” I served for several years as the assistant to the lead Pupil Advocate and fought for the concerns of thousands of students across that district.

In 1999, I would join Holly Drive Leadership Academy Charter School in its inaugural school year, as a founding teacher. For 15 years I would teach and impact the lives of inner-city San Diego youth, while at Holly Drive Leadership Academy.

In 2014 I joined Palm Academy Student Center as an Academy Teacher of Middle School Students. From 2020-2022 I would serve in a new role as TOSA/Admin. Designee. Then most recently I was named the Principal of Palm Academy on July 1, 2022.

My educational philosophy is very simple… “A Teacher must love who they are responsible for teaching, or their teaching will not truly affect their students’ lives as Humans.”
