Casey Huntley

Class of 2007

Graduated from Homeschool

Casey Huntley, age 25, is a Springs alumnus who is married and lives in Menifee. Like his brother and fellow Springs alumnus Jessie, he was a motocross racer.  An injury ended his racing career, so he now works as team manager for a Kawasaki motocross racing team based in Costa Rica. During the eight-month motocross season he travels to Central and South American regularly, putting him on the road 75 to 80 days per year and logging 100,000 flight miles annually.
“The traveling can be tough, but I really enjoy what I do,” Casey said. “I am fortunate to be involved in something I’m passionate about and to be able to use creative thinking when making decisions.”
As team manager, his duties include scheduling travel dates, ordering parts, overseeing riders and mechanics, flying to and from races, issuing press releases and working with media outlets. Off season he recruits qualified riders and team personnel, and is involved in sponsorships and development of new equipment.
Casey began motocross riding at age five and raced until age 18. An injury led to nerve damage in his arm, causing it to go numb during races and making it difficult to hold on to the bike.  He loved the sport, and found employment in other parts of the industry. He worked as a mechanic, and then in a media relations/rider support role for Dubach Racing Development. He’s been a team manager for the past three years.

He attended Springs for two years, graduating in 2007. He initially was in classes two days per week, then switched to full time Homeschool. His education specialist was Erika Nevares. After graduation, went on to attend Riverside Community College. He found Springs a “perfect match” as he pursued motocross racing. Being around other teens involved in the sport, he noticed that many never received their high school diplomas “because they were not involved with a program that cared for or met their needs.” This was not the case with him at Springs. He also benefitted from having a family that stressed the importance of education: “Getting my school work done was always important to my family and me. Being a self-motivated person I never had any issues, but having a supportive family is very important.”
