The Magnolia Student Center and FAPA enjoyed a Spring Fling dance in Hangar 16, which was decorated with images of flowers and butterflies, at the Flabob airport, reported Susie Carpenter, Magnolia program facilitator. Participants enjoyed dancing, a DJ, outside games, and snacks. A prom court king and queen were announced.

The middle school drone team at Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) has been working with CTE teacher Bernard Hamill to learn about drones, including how they fly and how they can be used to take photographs and video, reported Tiffany Daniels, vice principal/TOSA. Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) celebrated World Kindness Day playing Kindness Bingo and by planning to donate 100 socks to a local shelter. Additionally, Bryan Merida, a student diagnosed with autism, wants to launch a Kindness Club at the school, reported aide Ariana Mendoza.

Juniors Brian Shaffer and Connor Miller, both Aviation 3 students at Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA), are preparing for their future careers in aviation. FAPA provides four full courses for aspiring aviators to learn the concepts, science, history, and regulations needed to be successful pilots or drone operators.

Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) hosted the African Americans in Aviation Traveling Museum, reported Robin Davis, principal. The museum was founded by Chauncey Spencer II, son of aviator Chauncey Spencer, and tells the story of black aviators in the U.S. Spencer served as the docent; he spoke of such aviation pioneers as Willa Brown, Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., Dale White, Bessie Coleman and the Tuskegee airmen.

Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) is launching a Model Aviation Student Club (MASC). The club will serve as a vehicle to teach students about science, technology, engineering, art and math, and how model aviation can transform from a hobby into a career in aviation. Students will also have the chance to serve in leadership positions in the club, which can further aid their future job prospects.
