I remember the look in Brianna’s eyes. Her tiny six-year-old frame seemed too young to have the look of defeat. It appeared her former teacher had given up on her. As a first grade teacher at a Los Angeles charter school, I saw many cases like this over the years. The public school shared a campus with our charter school at the time when Brianna’s mother decided to remove her from the public school and enroll her in our charter school. Orange County Quest Academy has begun its second year with 160 students K-12, with the K-8 program operating on-site in Santa Ana. Alyssa Gonzales has been named Principal of Palm Academy, a K-8 public school of choice in the Springs Charter Schools network which serves 60 students in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area. She has 15 years of experience working in charter schools, and first started with Springs as teacher for Palm Academy in 2013.

OCEANSIDE, CA, July 9, 2014 – Springs Charter Schools are pleased to welcome Amy Heald as the new Director for their La Fuente Student Center in Oceanside, California. Opening in August, the center will offer Springs’ new Dual Immersion Spanish-English 50/50 Program. It is designed for native English speakers and native Spanish speakers and their parents who want to learn a second language.
