Work Permits

REQUIREMENTS

Students aged 14 – 17 who are offered a paid job may receive a work permit. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Grade Point Average is 2.0 or higher;
  • Adequate progress toward graduation unit completion.

Students and parents/guardians, with the help of a Work Experience Education (WEE) Teacher, are expected to become familiar with federal and state laws and restrictions that apply to working minors. The student and parent/guardian are responsible for working with a WEE Teacher to ensure all forms and information are accurate and complete.

The student, their parent/guardian, and the employer must complete all portions of the Work Permit Application (CDE Form B1.1). Once the completed application has been received, please allow 3-5 working days to process the Work Permit (CDE Form B1.4).
