Classical Community Studies History, Science

Springs’ Classical Community of OC has been “buzzing with engaging learning across grade levels,” reported Linda Larson, Homeschool director. In history, students wrapped up a hands-on study of the 13 colonies with younger students exploring colonial life through jobs, quill writing, and sewing, while older students researched regions, created projects, and presented their learning. The educational focus has now shifted to events leading up to the American Revolution, with interactive activities helping students understand colonial perspectives.

Linda noted, “We look forward to continuing this unit and celebrating student learning at our History Festival on March 11.”

In science, students continued a year-long focus on chemistry with an exploration of the Periodic Table, from element scavenger hunts for younger students to research, presentations, and creative projects for older grades. Classes are now investigating chemical vs. physical properties through experiments on buoyancy and magnetism, and excitement is building for an upcoming SubZero Assembly featuring liquid nitrogen in action.
