Thirty students from Springs’ regional academies and programs participated in the Springs All School Spelling Bee Invitational in Temecula. There were 13 rounds; the final round featured 8th graders Profess Adhikari from the Bear River Student Center and Kat Odell from Rancho Cucamonga Personalized Learning Center attempting to spell the winning word, curmudgeon. Profess prevailed.
Profess will now go on to represent Springs at the Riverside County Spelling Bee for the 4th consecutive year. Sam Mesmer, a 7th grader from the Corona Student Center will serve as an alternate. Kat and 6th grader Chelsea Avendano from Empire Homeschool will compete at the San Bernardino County Spelling Bee.
Nikkole McAdoo, events and community engagement coordinator extended her thanks to those who made the spelling bee possible, including Maggie Frerichs, Steve Bentley, Marcey Ellis, Stacy Brunell, Morgan Garrison, Haleigh Bruns, Jana Brassfield, and April Jacoby.
