As you know, Springs offers its families many wonderful education programs. Our ongoing challenge as we continue to grow, however, is in providing facilities with enough high-quality classrooms in which these programs can take place. I’m pleased to report that at our Magnolia Student Center in Riverside, we’ve been successful in meeting this particular challenge.
Last month, Magnolia’s TK- 6th-grade students moved into a new facility at 4020 Jefferson Street, Riverside. Located in a former YMCA facility, this 57,000-square foot building has been renovated to include 28 state-of-the-art classrooms with 21st-century design elements, offices, conference rooms for parent and student meetings, a gymnasium and a pool complex for 650 K-12 students. We expect the remaining 7-12th-grade students to move into their new facility later this month.
As Magnolia’s principal, Beverly Voechting, will tell you, the new facility will now give us the opportunity to expand the program, which is nearing full capacity with 500 students and a large pending (waiting) list. Additionally, it will allow for Magnolia’s high school students to participate in CIF sports, and add a music education program for all grades.
One of the most notable features of the new facility is its wide assortment of furnishings—tables, chairs, desks, ottomans, etc.—which give it the feel of a modern, Google office, designed to accommodate student interests and enable them to learn better. This new site has been two years in the making, and I know our families and staff are excited that it is now a reality. We hope to be welcoming prospective students and their families to tour the facility soon.
