Emmy Schneider, a Homeschool student in the 10th grade, has been selected as one of the 25 Most Remarkable Teens by the Riverside Youth Council and the Police Department in Riverside.
She was nominated by her CTE Media & Design Arts teacher, Robin Luther, who noted that while she was only age 15, she had already written and started to implement her own business plan in freelance photography and design. Ms. Luther observed, “Emmy has confidence and a strong artistic vision. Her portraits, fashion, and lifestyle photographs can compete with any high-fashion magazine or blog out there.”
Emmy developed an interest in photography four years ago. She especially likes portrait photography and hopes to become involved in wedding photography as well.
She noted that Springs’ CTE programs have been an important aid to her success: “My CTE classes have familiarized me with professional photo editing programs that are very important to my photographic work, and they have challenged me to think more creatively and outside the box.”
When she obtains her driver’s license at the end of summer, she plans to open her own photography business. She has already been hired to take photographs and is building a clientele. She has also designed her own business cards and created a business Facebook page to help market her work.
Upon graduation from Springs, she plans to attend California Baptist University and major in Entrepreneurship and minor in Photography. She’ll continue growing her photography business, which she hopes will one day provide her livelihood. Emmy’s favorite subjects are those which involve the arts, such as photography. Away from school and photography, she likes to explore new cities “by visiting and experiencing different shopping, dining, and cultural elements.” You may also find her in coffee shops or at Disneyland.
