Jaylene Rosales has been named Student of the Month by the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce in recognition of her continuous commitment to academic and personal excellence.
She is an 18-year-old senior in the Real World Academy at the Temecula Student Center.
She first joined River Springs in her freshman year, and has found the school a good fit for her. She said, “The staff takes the time to understand each of their students’ strengths and weaknesses and to better help us appreciate what we learn.”
She added, “I also love that at Real World Academy, we students are able to learn not just inside our school but outside of it as well as in our internships.”
When not at school, she enjoys snowboarding, soccer and flag football. After graduation from Springs, Jaylene plans to attend Carrington College in northern California and study veterinary technology, although she’ll miss the people she’s come to know at Springs: “I’ve come to appreciate all the amazing people I’ve met at River Springs. It’s been an honor knowing and learning from them, and it truly will be hard to say goodbye to the great family I’ve come to love.”
Debbie Thurston, Read World Academy Coordinator, thinks Jaylene is an outstanding choice for Student of the Month. She observed, “She has made a name for herself by her diligence, respect, follow-through and wanting to better herself and the school. She is a leader in the school’s Eyrie Mentor Program, supporting the school’s students who are learning English.”
Ms. Thurston continued, “Jaylene’s natural caring and positive nature impacts those around her and empowers our ELL students to work towards their personal best.”
Jaylene’s mentor teacher, Matthew Ramey, praised Jaylene for her high quality work and success interning at a veterinary clinic and animal hospital. He noted, “Jaylene is a student that exemplifies personal responsibility. She turns in 100 percent of her work, and communicates effectively with her teachers.”
