iShine Holds Snow Ball

March 28, 2024

Springs Charter Schools’ iShine Student Center held a middle school Snow Ball with 80 students in attendance. Students enjoyed a DJ and Nacho Bar, Sarah Sims, program facilitator, said. She continued, “This was a magical evening filled with joy and laughter under the stars and twinkle lights … It was such a happy night.”

January 2, 2024

Springs iShine Student Center honored veterans with a Veteran’s Day Tribute. Students performed patriotic songs and created patriotic artwork. Family members, including veterans, were invited to the school to participate and spoke to students.

iShine Welcomes School Counselor

September 25, 2023

Kelly Kester is the new school counselor at the iShine Student Center. She has worked at Springs for seven years in a variety of capacities. Her new role, said Campus Coordinator Stacey Savin, is “to help all students maximize their success through academic achievement strategies. She assists with managing emotions and applying interpersonal skills. Kelly’s hope is to deliver a counseling program that will make a positive impact on student achievement.”

Two Principals Hired for Academies

Katherine Pangle, Springs’ Senior Director of Academies, announced the hiring of two new principals for Academies, Priscilla Moreno-Doorbar for Santa Ana Student Center and Allen Neuenschwander for iShine Student Center.

iShine 8th Grader Promotion Poem, Painting

June 15, 2023

iShine 8th-grade student Violet Cross wrote a poem and painted a picture representing her time at iShine and her promotion to high school, reported Stacey Savin, campus coordinator. Violet is an Escondido resident who has been part of iShine since 2nd grade. She enjoys painting, reading, and the outdoors. She plans to travel the world after high school. Her painting is now hanging in the iShine lobby.

Student Artist of the Month: Beverlie Riddle

April 13, 2023

Beverlie Riddle, a 5th grade student at the iShine Student Center, is the Student Artist of the Month. Her artwork is entitled “Elle the Elephant.” She is age 11 and lives in Temecula. She said she likes to draw animals and flowers using pencils and paints. She likes going to school at iShine, and remarked, “I think my teachers are amazing!” When she finishes school she’d like to work as a Disney cartoonist.

iShine Student is a Champion Bull Rider

January 3, 2023

iShine 7th grade student Kaysen Chaffin won the Junior World Finals Bull Riding competition held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in December. To qualify, participants must be one of the top three bull riders in their region and then go on to be one of 100 riders competing in Las Vegas. Kaysen said, “It’s the most prestigious rodeo for which a youth could qualify.”

iShine Pink Out Day, Farm Visit, Backpacks

Springs iShine Student Center participated in Pink Out Day in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. TK-K students also enjoyed a visit to Peltzer’s Farm’s pumpkin patch. And, representatives from Toyota donated 400 backpacks and school supplies to the school.

New Principals: Riverside & iShine Student Centers

August 5, 2022

Gina Corby-Potter (pictured) is the new principal at Springs’ Riverside Student Center. She has worked for private and charter schools for 17 years, teaching K-8, and as an athletic director and principal. This is her first year at Springs. She likes animals, traveling to historic landmarks, reading and playing, and coaching sports.
