Del Rio Student Center students participated in the first annual Palm Academy Art Camp, learning how art enriches areas such as literacy, science and the global community. Students created “drawbots” (moving robots that explore physics through art), worked on a community art piece that will hang in the new Palm Academy facility and learned about how art connects to storybooks. Springs held its first Speech Meet at the Magnolia Student Center on March 5. The event gave participants the chance to practice public speaking while discussing a topic for which they have a passion. Homeschool 7th-grade student Gwyneth McIntyre, 12, earned a 1st place award and was designated as a Broadcom Masters Nominee at the Riverside County Science and Engineering Fair held in March. Her project, Terrible or Terrific Toothpaste? examined which toothpastes caused the least tooth decay.
