Young Venture Astronomer, Speaker Series

Venture Online 1st grade student Westley Beyer is developing an encyclopedic knowledge of space and is an astronomer in the making. At age 3, he developed an interest in space after watching Toy Story and becoming fascinated with Buzz Lightyear. He studied extensively, and three years later, as Westley was taking his 1st grade test in reading and math, he proceeded to teach his 1st grade Venture Online teacher all about Saturn’s rain, lightning on the moon, the Arcturus, the tornado on the sun’s north pole and the gas giant, Jupiter.

Vista Student Center Welcomes New Principal

November 14, 2023

Kim Bagby is the new principal of the Vista Student Center. She previously worked in the education field in her native Michigan. In three schools with which she worked, she was responsible for curriculum mapping and planning and aligning it to standards, ultimately resulting in higher levels of student achievement.

Homeschool Writing Workshop, Park Days

November 14, 2023

Springs Homeschool hosted the Imagination Machine Assembly at Springs’ Riverside Pathfinder site with more than 75 students in attendance.  Students participated in a creative writing workshop, including creating characters, establishing a setting, and resolving conflict in the plot.  Some students’ stories will be selected to be acted out by Imagination Machine in February.

Bear River Fundraiser Nets $30,000

October 27, 2023

Springs’ Bear River Student Center held an Apex fun run fundraiser which raised $30,000; wish list projects to be funded include a bus for field trips, new basketball courts and a gym. The school serves 700 students grades TK-8.

Venture Student Performs, Student Advisory Board

October 27, 2023

Springs Venture Online student Sean Ower recently played the character Sweeney Todd in the musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” at Oklahoma City University. Sean has been performing in theater since age 8, as “it’s the thing that brings me the most joy.” He plans to continue performing in theater professionally when he completes school.

TSC Homecoming, Topgolf

October 27, 2023

The Temecula Student Center (TSC) held its annual homecoming dance organized by students and teacher Robin Felix. Student participants Jazzmin Brown, Sophia Ahumada, and Jessica VanOrman reported enjoying the cha-cha slide and dance instruction; student Katelyn Miramontes said she liked the theme and meeting people.

Journey Senior Profile: Sydney Lujan

Sydney Lujan is a 12th grade student in Springs’ Journey Homeschool High School program. As part of her education, she completed the CTE photography course pathway and internship. She had the opportunity to work alongside several photographers and was part of a weekend surf photography camp. She also likes to go to car shows with her father and take photos.

Students Enjoy Virtual Village Park Days

October 9, 2023

Springs’ Virtual Village held a recent park day at The Heritage Lakes Sports Park in Menifee with more than 100 students and family members attending. The day included games, a book giveaway and snacks. Park days give students the opportunity to meet their peers in-person.
