The Otay Ranch Academy for the Arts has partnered with St. Paul’s Plaza in Chula Vista to create intergenerational events and activities for students and the elderly who participate in seniors programs at St. Paul’s.
During one recent event, 5th-grade students spoke with veterans to learn their life stories and return to school and write essays about what they had learned. Alyssa Branchaud-Warren, the vice principal at Otay Ranch, said, “The students really enjoyed getting to know the seniors and look forward to returning.” In May, students will return to play games and read stories with the seniors.
