Mia Harris, 5, a Kindergarten student at Springs’ Rancho Cucamonga Student Center who lives in Ontario, is the November 2024 Student Artist of the Month. She likes to draw fictional characters such as unicorns and cartoons as well as her parents. She also likes playing piano and singing, dancing, T-ball, Minecraft, and Roblox. She hopes one day to be a professional ballerina or police officer.
Other recent Student Artists of the Month include Manuel David Fuentes, 6th grade, Empire Homeschool, for September 2024, and Sydney Tucker, 11th grade, Journey Homeschool High School, for October 2024. Sydney is an 11th-grade student at Journey Homeschool High School and lives in Riverside. She is interested in surrealism and enjoys drawing people. Sydney likes to create new characters and give them unique appearances and environments. She typically uses pencil for her drawings and also creates color sketches using alcohol markers, ink pens, and oil pastels.
Besides art, she enjoys music and sports. She is interested in a career in art, perhaps in graphic design or the animation industry. She added, “One of my missions in my art is to share my faith in God with others and glorify Him by using the gifts He gave me.”
Manuel, 12, is in the 6th grade with Empire Homeschool. He likes to draw animals, anime, superheroes, and landscapes using a sketchbook and pencils. In addition to art, he likes Minecraft, and Legos, playing Mario on his Nintendo Switch, and swimming. He also likes practicing Spanish and exercising with his father. When he finishes school he’d like to become a physician or join the U.S. Air Force.
