Carmina Kendall, age 8, has just completed the 2nd grade at the Magnolia Student Center. Her favorite subjects include math and science; she hopes one day to use them to help her become a chemical engineer.
She says her interests include playing with GoldieBlox, which “is like an engineering toy for girls; I can build cool stuff from it.” She admits that learning multiplication and division has been difficult, but “I practiced and now it’s easier.” The Riverside resident is active in her church, and will be traveling to the Philippines for six months. She’ll do Springs Venture Online Academy during that time, and return to Magnolia when she comes home.
Her other interests include piano, drawing and singing in the youth choir. She also likes playing with friends, and readily shares her positive experiences at the Magnolia Student Center with them. She said, “I tell them that it is a great school, with great teachers.”
