Homeschool student Caleb Miller participated in The Rinks Anaheim Ice’s Homeschool Ice Hockey Day and took home the grand prize drawing of a 2016 team-autographed Ducks jersey.
The 4th grader joined with 150 other homeschoolers for a free skating lesson and public skating session as part of The Rinks Anaheim Ice Homeschool Try Hockey for Free Day. The Rinks is a Springs vendor, offering a Learn to Skate program (inline and ice), Learn to Play Hockey program (inline and ice) and a Street Hockey program. The programs are sponsored by Anaheim Ducks players Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Gear is provided.
Caleb is in his 5th season of roller hockey and plays with his older brother Jack. Their team took first place in the last two seasons; playoffs for the current season will take place June 8.
Caleb and his family opted for Springs’ Homeschool program so the family could better control the curriculum and content he studied, get him the individualized attention he needed, allow him to study at his own pace, accommodate his learning style, take advantage of smaller class sizes for enrichment classes and give him the opportunity to develop his talents and interests. His mother, Catherine, said, “Caleb loves homeschooling and prefers it over public school.”
Caleb’s favorite subjects include history, writing, and Lego Engineering. Other interests include playing the drums and piano, Disney Infinity, NHL 12, and Minecraft.
