Last month, a Springs parent wrote to Superintendent Kathleen Hermsmeyer regarding Keys Education Specialist Summer Knapp: How many times can one thank another for a gift of immeasurable value? In your school, there is a jewel!
My daughter had to come to the Arrow program for a variety of reasons. She was giving up. We had been through the saddest and worst last three years and she had decided that she would drop out. You should know that it was due to Summer Knapp and her beautiful encouragement that [my daughter] will graduate!
This teacher represents everything a teacher should be! The most important element is that the student can feel her pulling for them. Do you ever meet someone so lucky as to be in the profession that they fully embrace? Well, this is Summer Knapp.
Thank you for hiring this beautiful person! I wish all teachers were willing to jump right in and actually teach and help their students as she is! There are a few teachers we all remember from your youth. They stood out from the rest because they really wanted to be the difference in a young person’s life! This teacher literally saved my daughter’s life!
Thank You So Much!
Superintendent Hermsmeyer responded: “I think it’s common knowledge that Summer is a fantastic teacher. But here’s outside validation! It takes a great deal of extra effort for a parent to write a commendation like this. For every letter like this we get, there are dozens of parents who intended to send a letter. Well done, Summer!!”
