Journey Sophomore Starts Plant Business

Journey Homeschool High School 10th grade student Sebastian Wilds has launched a new business, “Plant Wilds LLC”.  ES Elizabeth Solt reported, “While he only sells carnivorous plants, which are currently endangered in the wild, he does in fact have a deep passion for ALL plants. He plans to add an educational component to his business to help inform the public about these stunning and unusual plants.”

While Sebastian has long wanted to start a new business, it wasn’t until he took Springs’ CTE Entrepreneurship course and received encouragement from his instructor, Judy Adair, that he began to realize he could do it even at the age of 15.

Sebastian is also a photographer. After taking the CTE Photography course, he decided to take pictures of plants and flowers.

Sebastian has received much unexpected support from people he has met, added Elizabeth, from vendors at the markets who help him to learn how to engage with his customers, to those who sell him his supplies and believe in what he is doing.  He even found a business owner in Oregon from the same industry willing to mentor him.

Once he obtained his seller’s permit and business license, he began to work on his website, www.plantsontheprowl.com.  All through the summer break, Sebastian worked his own booth at farmer’s markets in Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, and Bonsall.
