The staff of Springs’ Journey Homeschool High School honored two of its outstanding graduates, Juan Alatorre and Karter Fluck. Juan is the Journey Student of the Year, earning his diploma and completing a CTE pathway in Game Design. He also completed two courses for college credit and all courses required for an A-G transcript (required for any student wanting to go to a UC or Cal State University).
Juan exemplifies an exceptional work ethic and strong determination in overcoming obstacles that come his way, the staff reported, and he has become an effective communicator and an independent learner who prioritizes academics. The staff noted, “He shows respect for his teachers and is deeply dedicated to his family. Juan has a bright future ahead and will make a significant mark in this world.”
In the fall, Juan plans to attend college to pursue computer graphics animation.
The staff described Karter Fluck as “an outstanding young man.” He has attended Springs K-12 and graduated in May with multiple accomplishments including a State Seal of Biliteracy, membership in the National Honor Society, and a CTE certificate of completion. He is also a certified Hapkido martial arts instructor, is active in his church, is an accomplished pianist, and speaks German.
Karter will attend California Baptist University this fall on an ROTC scholarship.
