The Enterprise Learning Lab held its first-ever spelling bee for grades 4-8, reported Principal April Jacoby. Seventeen students participated. The winners were Arabell Sheehan, 1st place, Ethan Elias-Sotelo, 2nd place, and Joana Lysha Dadivas and Isabella Diaz, 3rd place. Teacher Diana Davis served as Bee Master. The winning students will move on to compete in a Springs-wide spelling bee against students in other Springs programs.
Besides learning to spell words, April believes the bee “was a great opportunity for students to practice important public speaking skills. Students learn to build confidence, maintain composure under pressure, project their voice effectively, and speak with clear enunciation.”
