Alexander Larreta is a 7th-grade Homeschool student and Riverside resident who is a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a civilian auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force, with aspirations to attend the Air Force Academy and become a fighter pilot. As part of the Civilian Air Patrol, he attends weekly squadron meetings where he learns about aerospace “as well as how to be a leader, how to take care of my community, how to be disciplined & responsible, and how to respect others.”
Alexander is the oldest of four children. He joined the Springs Homeschool program at the beginning of the current school year. He chose Springs because he likes to set his own pace for learning, and wanted to spend more time at home with his family.
Besides the Civil Air Patrol, Alexander said, “Baseball is my passion.” He is part of a baseball team and plays for Orangecrest Little League. He noted he is a lifelong Dodger fan. Other interests include watching historical documentaries and cooking and baking.
Recent activities include selling 60 wreaths that he and other cadets laid on the graves of veterans buried at Riverside Memorial Cemetery. He said, “It was an honor to be a part of something like this.”
