The Springs Homeschool program has grown steadily in recent years, said Homeschool Director Tammy Jackson, necessitating that an additional 20 Education Specialists be hired for the school year, bringing to a total of 103 the number of Educational Specialists working in the program.
In order to get the most out of the program, Homeschool parents are encouraged to enroll in Springs’ Parent Certification Program, which involves a day of training, four electives and a final project.
The program is designed to help Homeschool parents to become more effective educators of their children, said Jacqueline Hike, who oversees the program. One hundred Springs parents are currently registered for the program, but additional space in the program is available.
In other Homeschool news, representatives of the program participated in two events for National School Choice Week in January, one in Costa Mesa and another in Yucaipa. The week is held annually, and highlights the benefits school choice offers America’s school children.
