Springs Charter Schools’ La Fuente Academy in Oceanside, which offers Springs’ dual immersion Spanish English 50/50 program, hosts free language classes on Thursdays, 4-6 p.m. (except 3rd Thursdays). The classes are for both English speakers wishing to learn Spanish and Spanish speakers wishing to learn English.
The first hour is for English speakers, and features opportunities to learn Spanish through games, songs, cooking and arts & crafts. The second hour is for Spanish speakers, and offers opportunities to learn English for use in the workplace. Classes are for adults; child care is available on a sliding scale through the Boys and Girls Club located on the same campus as La Fuente. The classes are for staff and family members of those attending Springs, or the families of prospective students wishing to learn more about the school.
3rd Thursday Community Night – On the 3rd Thursday of the month, La Fuente hosts a Community Night 4-5:30 p.m. The afternoons feature social activities, including dancing. Community Nights are for Springs families and the families of prospective students.
La Fuente serves students TK-6. As a dual language program, students learn in English and Spanish, with an emphasis on family involvement. The program incorporates learning through activities, such as cooking typical Latin and American dishes, Salsa and square dancing. The students also take many local field trips.
