Connections Academy at Springs held a “Give Like Dolly” event to encourage reading, shared Venissa Valenzuela, program facilitator. The event was inspired by the late singer Dolly Parton’s efforts to encourage students to read.
Principal Laurie Campbell read Shel Silverstein’s children’s book “The Giving Tree,” Venissa said, “captivating students with a meaningful story about generosity and kindness.” The staff dressed in flannel shirts and cowboy hats. Venissa continued, “Throughout the event, students were encouraged to discover the joy of books and were delighted to listen to different clips of Dolly Parton’s most famous songs.”
