Springs teacher Elizabeth Solt has been honored with a Crystal Apple Award recognizing her skill and dedication in serving her students, reported Vice Principal Nicole Collins. Elizabeth was nominated for the award by student Makayla Gunnell. Makayla is a Homeschool high school student who praised Elizabeth for her “unwavering support,” and added that she plays a key role in helping students map out their four-year high school plans and prepare for college and future careers.
Elizabeth supports more than 30 students as an Education Specialist and teaches algebra within the Journey High School program. Despite her busy schedule, Makayla observed, “Mrs. Solt makes each student feel like a priority … she converses with me as if I’m her only student … I am most certainly not.”
Makayla concluded that Elizabeth is an inspiring figure both in and out of the classroom. She inspires me to do good and be good. She is so incredible.”
