The Del Rio Student Center Leadership Club took a volunteer field trip to the Animal Savior Sanctuary in Perris, reported teacher Claudia McGinty. The students had the opportunity to interact with animals that had been rescued from difficult situations, including dogs, pigs, geese, goats, miniature horses, and donkeys.
“Students learned about the importance of compassion and responsible animal care while helping around the sanctuary,” shared Claudia. A highlight was brushing and braiding the manes of the miniature horses. Students also presented a donation check in support of the work of the sanctuary.
Claudia concluded, “The experience gave students the opportunity to practice kindness, service, and leadership while making a positive impact in the community.”
