Pathfinder National History Day

Riverside Classical Humanities classes participated in National History Day at the Pathfinder Student Center, “celebrating the research, creativity, and hard work students have invested throughout the semester,” shared Erin Hill, instructional aide. Students explored significant historical topics of their choice, she said, conducting in-depth research using libraries, archives, and museums to better understand the past. They presented their findings through papers, exhibits, podcasts, performances, documentaries, or websites, advancing through contest levels where their work was evaluated by professional historians and educators.

More than 75 participants in grades 5-10 were judged, and prizes were awarded in recognition of their efforts. This year’s National History Day theme, Revolution, Reaction, and Reform, encouraged students to study the past in order to better understand the present and help shape the future.

Erin said, “The program is excited to send students on to the Springs level of competition and advance their presentation skills.”
