From the Superintendent …
Welcome back to the 2025-26 school year.
We are grateful to each of our Springs families for making Springs their charter school of choice, and please be assured that each member of our Springs team is dedicated to providing each of our students with an outstanding education.
Preparations for the new school year included Ignite conferences for our staff and parents; the staff event included our annual board appreciation dinner at Pechanga Resort. Special guests at the dinner included Jeff Rice of Aplus+, Myrna Castrejón of the California Charter Schools Association, and Jennifer Mejares Pham, a former Springs board member who is now Trustee Area 7 of the Riverside County Office of Education. Each shared good news of the charter schools movement in California; Myrna, for example, noted that nearly every charter school up for renewal had been renewed over the past year, and that for the first time a court case involving charter schools had made it to the U.S. Supreme Court – and our side won!
It was my pleasure to share the good news going on with Springs, including highlighting our recent Springs Hart Vision Teacher of the year, Kimberly Matthews. I was able to review our schools’ CAASPP data, which had both some positive results and showed some areas where we can improve. And, I was able to share some of our latest construction news, which includes the planned opening of an additional Riverside site, a Fontana location, and a San Bernardino school in the upcoming years.
I’m grateful to all who participated in our Ignite conferences. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your appropriate school representative. I wish you all a good school year!
Dr. Kathleen Hermsmeyer
