NHS Juniors Excel

Karla Moreno and Noah Arevalo are Springs juniors who participate in the National Honor Society (NHS) and as part of the program volunteered at the non-profit House of Mexico, reported Erin Riley, Journey Homeschool High School vice principal. The pair hosted a cottage at Balboa Park, she said and provided information about Mexican culture and about the community events organized by the House of Mexico.

The purpose of NHS, Erin continued, “is to create enthusiasm for scholarship and promote leadership and service.” To qualify, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate leadership, service, and character. For information on NHS, visit: https://springscs.org/event/national-honor-society

Karla’s and Noah’s ES, Tamara Miller, believes that the pair have taken “full advantage” of the educational opportunities offered by Springs. She explained, “From being dually enrolled in community college classes to being active in the National Honors program, applying for internships through our EWEE program, and taking the time to volunteer in their community, these two scholars exemplify learning the Springs Way. We are excited to see what great accomplishments these two will have this year.”
