Christina Marushok

Class of 2014

Graduated from KEYS

Christina Marushok (photo by Jaqi Medlock) is a Springs alumna attending Marymount Manhattan College in New York City on a dance and academic scholarship. She is earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a concentration in Choreography. She wants to dance with a professional contemporary ballet company, and earn her MFA and become a college dance professor. She is originally from Fountain Valley, and participated in the KEYS program of Springs from her sophomore to senior year. She’s grateful for her years at Springs, as it gave her the opportunity to have the flexible schedule she needed to participate in her dance rehearsals and events. It was also a valuable opportunity to learn about time management. Christina says today she’s in class 11 hours a day Monday through Friday, much of the time involved with rehearsals and dance courses. She remarked, “It is challenging to make sure I am taking care of my body and also excelling in all of my courses with such a hefty schedule. I think that is one misconception that some people have about college dance. It is actually very time consuming, mentally and physically. We are really trying to prepare ourselves for professional work”. She likes New York City, describing it as “wonderful and always full of surprises”. She added, “I love that you can step outside and be surrounded by art.  I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. Also, people watching is always fun here”.
