Bear River Student Center recently held its student leadership officer elections, structuring the campus voting process after real-world democratic elections to provide students with practical civic experience, shared Vice Principal Rebecca Sebastian.
Designed to move beyond a simple popularity vote, the program requires candidates to design campaign posters, manage project budgets, and deliver speeches to their peers. Through the process, participating students gain hands-on experience in public speaking, campaign organization, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement.
The election process concluded with a full campus vote, where students and staff cast ballots for the incoming officer team. Rebecca encourages schools interested in launching a similar program or sharing campaign ideas to connect with the Bear River student leadership team for future collaboration.
