Journey Homeschool High School Kicks Off New School Year

Journey Homeschool High School launched the new school year with 40 “dedicated” team members, including six new staff members, coming together for professional development, collaboration, and team-building activities, reported Vice Principal Nicole Collins. Journey’s mission this year is centered on “fostering respect, character, and citizenship among staff, students, and guardians,” she said.

During IGNITE Day 2, the Journey team celebrated student achievement awards that highlight “the success of its personalized learning program and the dedication of its students, families, and staff.”
Journey was recognized for excellence in:
Student Achievement CAASPP Participation
Student Achievement Graduation Rate
Student Achievement ELPAC Performance
Student Achievement Flying Colors in Mathematics
Student Achievement Flying Colors in English Language Arts
Student Achievement High School Success, with 45% of high school students maintaining a GPA above 3.5
Student Achievement Moving Mountains in Math
Student Achievement Career Technical Education (CTE) Completers, with 38% of students completing a CTE pathway
Student Achievement College Courses, with Journey students successfully completing 174 college courses
Student Achievement Seal of Biliteracy Excellence, with nine graduating seniors earning the California Seal of Biliteracy
In addition to celebrating student success, staff members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Journey community.
Sarah Amato, Journey Homeschool High School Counselor, received the Springs “We Took Notice” Award for her “exceptional” dedication and support of Journey students. Her commitment to student success, college and career readiness, and personalized guidance “has made a meaningful impact on the Journey school community,” Nicole said.
Nicole concluded, “As the new school year begins, the Journey team remains committed to providing personalized learning opportunities, fostering academic excellence, and supporting students as they pursue their individual goals and pathways to success. Through strong partnerships with families and a focus on student-centered learning, Journey continues to empower students to achieve their fullest potential.”
