Homeschool Student Performs at Carnegie Hall

Springs 5th-grade homeschool student Ezra Yague, age 11, performed on the piano at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, New York City.

Ezra began playing piano at age 5 and practices daily. In 2025, he competed in a classical music competition at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.  His ultimate dream was to play at Carnegie Hall, so he auditioned with 14 other competitors. He won first place with Chopin’s Waltz in E minor (Ezra Yague, 10 years old, playing Presto and Chopin’s New Waltz in a minor – YouTube).
It was his first visit to New York City, so while there he engaged in many common tourist activities: visiting Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and the World Trade Center memorial (and eating New York pizza!)

Ezra has been a Springs Homeschool student since TK. His mother, Mia, said, “Being a part of the Homeschool program has helped him have a personalized education and flexible daily routine to work at his learning pace. He has enjoyed every class and his teachers at the learning center [Riverside and Pathfinder locations]. He’s had some awesome teachers.”
When he finishes school, he’d like to be a doctor.
