From the Superintendent …

Teacher-of-the-Year Emcee, CAASPP Testing
First off, I want to recognize Kimberly Matthews (pictured, right), a teacher with Springs’ Virtual Academy and the California Charter Schools Association’s (CCSA) 2025 Hart Vision Teacher of the Year, who served as the award ceremony emcee at the 2026 California Charter Schools Conference. CCSA’s chief schools officer, Elizabeth Robitaille, said that Kimberly was “a natural—you added so much joy and passion to our session, coming from a place of deep expertise and mission alignment.” Thank you, Kimberly, for representing Springs well!

Next, the time has come for California schools’ annual CAASPP testing. This is an important measure of success for Springs, both in terms of academic achievement as well as growth and participation. Every five years charter schools have to be renewed by their authorizer; a key factor in securing a renewal is a school’s success with CAASPP testing, not only scoring but their participation rate. So I encourage all of you to do your best with this testing.

And, as this school year winds down, we have many important updates coming your way on end-of-the-year activities, including our senior graduation. Please follow our social media for the latest Springs news, and watch our YouTube page for new videos, which we post regularly.
