Journey Senior Participates in Harvard Summer Program

Noah Arevalo, a senior in Springs’ Journey program, participated in the online Harvard Undergraduate Venture TECH Summer Program. He learned about startups and technology through lectures, workshops, and hands-on sessions incorporating MBA-level case studies. He participated in Zoom calls with guest speakers Mark Cuban, Lila Snyder (CEO of Bose), Josh Silverman (CEO of Etsy), and Ted Sarandos (co-CEO of Netflix). He was also assigned to a 6-week internship with the startup TouchPoint Legal, where he worked with a team to conduct user research, build an MVP, and ultimately present to the company founder.

Noah has excelled in the Journey program over the past three years.  He has maintained a GPA better than 4.0 and is president of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for community college students.

Noah has earned credit for 14 college classes through Barstow Community College. His goal is to obtain his associate’s degree in Computer Business Information Systems with an emphasis in Cybersecurity. He is part of the Cybersecurity Internship Team with teacher Chris Allen and participates in cybersecurity competitions.

Noah has also been part of the Journey yearbook committee. Outside of school, Noah plays the violin as part of the East County Community Orchestra and serves on his church’s sound team. He is also a volunteer with House of Mexico.

Noah’s TOR, Tamara Miller, observed, “Noah is a tenacious learner. His commitment to his education is evident in both his school and personal endeavors. I am excited to see what this year brings for him.”
