Volunteer Experience:
BJ’s volunteer experience pertains mainly to Hippotherapy which uses equine’s natural gait and movements to help with motor and sensory issues. It helps to improve neurologic functions and is used for those with physical or mental disorders.
Biography:
BJ spent the past 27 years as an educator in both General Ed and Special Ed. She started working for Springs Charter Schools back in 2001 when it was known as Eagle’s Peak. She has extensive knowledge of the diverse programs offered at Springs and worked at many of the different sites over the years. During these years, she also homeschooled her daughter, was an ES, CAASP coordinator, Learning Center Teacher, Master ES, Specialized Academic Instructor, Mentor teacher with the Center Teacher Induction program, and was on the Leadership Committee for Special Education.
BJ’s attention to detail, organization through planning, and understanding of the daily complexities of running successful programs have helped her to develop a deep appreciation for Springs Charter School. She believes that Spring’s mission and vision are paramount in providing parent involvement and a more approachable individualized education for students. BJ believes that all students are capable of learning and are respected for who they are as individuals at Springs Charter School. She is honored to be a board member for Springs coming from an educator’s perspective. She supports the diverse populations and the countless opportunities for students to thrive that the school provides.
